Image of the Month Saturn NASA's Cassini spacecraft captured seventy-five images in sequence to create this beautiful mosaic of Saturn's spring equinox. Such equinox occur only once every 15 Earth years, and Cassini was in orbit to capture this one for prosperity. Saturn is rising in our eastern skies this month. Visible just after sunset, it shines brightly beneath the constellation of Leo, the lion. Saturn is brightest this month because it is at opposition (on the opposite side of the sky as the sun) and is closer to the Earth. Above Leo in the sky, Mars shines with an orangish-red color. Mars is not as bright as it was the last couple of months, but it will be visible the rest of the year. Take your telescope or binoculars out of the closet, go outside, and see Saturn's beautiful rings for yourself! Our Theater
